Thank You

DSC_1016On Tuesday, November 4th, voters across the Norfolk, Bristol, & Middlesex voiced their choice at polls across the district. First, congratulations to Senator Richard J. Ross on his reelection. I am glad that I was able to add my voice to the conversation throughout this campaign, and I hope that the ideas we shared will find a place in future dialogue.

Second, thank you to the incredibly talented, hard-working, tireless team that was with me at every step of this incredible ride. To Molly, Andy, Sean, and Sam: each of you motivated me to be better every day. I could not have accomplished an ounce of what we accomplished, and we accomplished a lot. Do not, for a second, think any less of your talents and abilities, because the way we built our organization over these past two years is something we should all be proud of. As I told reporters on election night, “This is the beginning of something, not the end.” And, to Russ: no one has meant more to me, has been more of a mentor to me, and has pushed me harder than you. I love you, and I cannot wait to see what is next for us.

And, to every single one of you – every one of you who donated, who held a sign, who made a call, who knocked a door, who wished me “good luck” – I am forever indebted to you. Your friendship, your support, and your commitment to fighting alongside me are what allow me to look back on the last two years and to honestly say that I have no regrets.

Third, to the voters: thank you for taking an active role in our democracy. I remember that, after the September primary, we were saddened by the low turnout across our district and across our state. When voters have an opportunity to influence so much of who we are as a society, then we need to urge voters to seize that opportunity. Yesterday, they did. And, while I may not agree with every decision they made, I cannot help but be reminded of how strong our system is, and how much the vibrancy of our democracy depends upon the energy of our electorate.

Finally, to Kendra, and to my mom and sister: you are the three smartest, strongest, funniest, most beautiful women I know. Your support of me every single day was what carried me forward. I know that the election result was not the result you had wanted for me; but, please know that I want nothing more than to make you proud of the man I am today. It is, entirely, a product of what you have taught me.
